Born in Potchefstroom in 1933, Andre de Beer has devoted his life to the contribution of art in every possible way, whether through lecturing, serving as Chairman of the National Art Association of South Africa, or becoming a full time artist in 1983.  His versatility is clearly seen in his wide range of paintings including landscapes, portrait studies, still life and figure compositions which he creates in a variety of media like oil, watercolour, ink, pencil, charcoal and pastel.  Andre de Beer is a sought after artist and has been assigned to paint several ministers as well as Karoo landscapes which were given as gifts to international secretariats.
